Is it possible to still have a healthy career doing art if I get an art degree as a minor rather than a major? OF COURSE!! And your mother is a very smart woman! My mom wouldn’t let me go to an art college because she didn’t think I would get a ‘real diploma’ and be able to get a job. Also, it was crazy expensive, and I understand that. They’re just looking out for our well being, and art is a very scary profession to get into.
If your work is good enough, people will want it. Freelance is always a huge opportunity to make money, especially with everyone on craigslist looking for artists to do quick jobs for them.
